ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG
In August 2003, Saban Capital Group raised capital commitments and led a consortium with Bain Capital Partners, Hellman & Friedman, Thomas H. Lee Partners, Providence Equity Partners, Quadrangle Capital Partners, and Alpine Equity Partners to acquire control of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG (“ProSiebenSat.1”) in a milestone transaction in European media.
ProSiebenSat.1, Germany's largest commercial television broadcasting company, owns five German TV channels, including general interest networks ProSieben and SAT.1, which are two of the top three stations in Germany. Collectively, ProSiebenSat.1's channels represent approximately 45% of the German TV advertising market, one of the largest in the world. ProSiebenSat.1 is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
In March 2007, Saban Capital Group and the consortium sold its controlling interest in ProSiebenSat.1 to KKR and Permira, owners of SBS Broadcasting.
